OUR PEACE is a 4-channel immersive video environment created from documentary footage captured in Portland, Oregon. The work is on view at White Box at the University of Oregon during December 2015.
The machines of war are woven slowly into the social fabric of America, mingling with the banality of everyday life. Removed from foreign battlefields, these machines come home and absorb their new environment which, in turn, transforms their design, function, and meaning. Jet airplanes carry passengers all over the world and armored vehicles have become luxury cars, nearly disappearing into the commonplace. But there are times and places where the machines of war are more difficult to disguise as commodities and the contrast with everyday experience is more pronounced.
